Coconut Hideaway
Frequently Asked Questions!
Many guests have told us that they appreciate knowing some of the small ins and outs of the homes they rent. While we have provided a “house book” that clarifies many details, we also have found that many people do not take the time to read a house book, especially if it has many pages. So this is our attempt to distill the most-asked questions into a simple and easy to read document that is right at your fingertips.
Wi-Fi is offered by Starlink and is about the best available on the island. It is not perfect, but most guests report that they can have access to Netflix, zoom meetings and other necessities without a problem.

If there are issues, you can usually reset the modem (located on top of the cupboard in the corner of the kitchen) by simply unplugging it and plugging it back in. If that does not work, sometimes a factory reset is needed. To do that, you plug and unplug the modem 6 times in rapid succession. That will, however, erase the network name and password so please let Terry know if you do that!

TRASH: Trash is picked up Tuesday and Friday. Please put all trash in the bins downstairs prior to 10 am.
SEPTIC: We have a very fragile septic system on the island and proper operation requires that NOTHING be deposited in the septic system. No baby wipes or makeup remover wipes (even if they claim to be flushable), no tampons, no grease or food waste, no paper towels — and we request that toilet paper also be deposited in the can provided whenever possible.
FANS: There is a master switch on the wall by the beach porch door….that switch controls all living room fans and must be left ON. Each fan is operated by a remote located on the front wall. Please return the remotes to their holder so they don’t get misplaced.
BREAKER BOX: The wiring and outlets were recently replaced after the hurricane BUT we still pop a circuit breaker every now and then. The breaker box is in the closet of the master bedroom. We also have several GFI outlets that pop frequently due to our humid and moist condition. Reset the breaker first and then you are able to reset the GFI outlets.
DOWNSTAIRS CABANA: There’s a mini-fridge behind the curtain that you may use if you are using that bedroom. There is also a spare refrigerator with freezer in the small back porch bedroom.
