Sunset Cottage is an Old Florida beachfront cottage that has been lovingly updated over the years by the family that has owned it nearly 40 years. It is new to the rental market and ready to welcome guests looking for a comfortable and cozy beach cottage with some of the most dramatic views of the beach and Little Gasparilla’s spectacular sunsets.
After a short ride from the nearby marina, a private dock awaits you upon arrival. The dock is just a few short steps from your beachfront cottage. Unloading is a breeze and the dock is always convenient. You approach the house through the grassy back yard and a quaint stone walkway. There is a spacious open air seating area downstairs with views of the dock.
Upstairs, there is a covered back porch at the back of the house with views of the canal and the bay beyond. It makes a lovely spot from which to have morning coffee and watch the sun rise over the bay. There is a comfortable seating area, grill and bar. There is also a covered porch on the front of the house, with stunning views of the dunes and the turquoise Gulf of Mexico beyond.
Inside, this cottage offers a spacious and welcoming ambiance. One large great room offers dramatic beach views, lots of comfortable seating, dining area and the convenient kitchen. High, beamed ceilings create a dramatic effect and the home is designed to maximize the views of the beach. The kitchen has all cookware, utensils and appliances, including a dishwasher and has a convenient breakfast bar as well. The dining table seats 6.
A large “family” bedroom offers a king-size bed plus two small twins perfect for small children. This room has a large bathroom with walk in shower. Downstairs, another very private king bedroom offers a cozy oasis with another private bathroom and walk-in shower. The downstairs bathroom has a ”Cabbage Key vibe” with guests and family members’ display of dollar bills hung on the piling. (The second bedroom is not accessible from the upstairs; you must go outdoors.) That makes this room a very private spot for late sleepers, teenagers or a couple who seeks peace and quiet from the rest of the family upstairs!
The home is nestled behind several dunes that lead to the Gulf of Mexico. A sandy pathway meanders through these dunes and takes you to the spectacular beach with its turquoise water and abundance of shells, shark’s teeth and shorebirds. This home is located at the south end of the island, near the pass, and shelling is often superb if you walk to the south end of the island.
This home is perfect for two couples, a small family, honeymooners, snowbirds or educators on sabbatical. Fishermen who like easy access to their boat and the Gulf of Mexico will appreciate the proximity of both their boat and Little Gasparilla Pass. And anyone who enjoys spectacular views of one of the most pristine beaches in the state will find that and more at Sunset Cottage.
Rents from $425/night or $2975/week, 4 night minimum
*20 night minimum January through March.
Please be aware that we can not permit guests to check in or check out the same day another guest will be occupying the property. We require at least 24 hours of vacancy between each guest.
